Second Republic lawmaker, Sidi Ali, dies at 86

A two-term member of the Federal House of Representatives in the Second Republic, Sidi Ali, has died at the age of 86.

The late politician, who represented Dambatta Constituency on the platform of Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, died on Thursday.

A family source told DAILY NIGERIAN that the funeral prayer is expected to hold on Friday at Kundila Juma’at Mosque at 1pm.

Educated in the United States, the late veteran information officer was the author of Power of Powers — a biography of the First Republic minister of Defence, Muhammadu Ribadu.

In his 2018 birthday message, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari saluted the late politician for “ensuring accurate and balanced information on government activities during and after the Civil War.”

The elder statesman spent years serving the Nigerian International Press Centre, Ministry of Information and National Broadcasting Commission, among other institutions.
