OGC Nice boss rules out Moffi return

OGC Nice co-president, Maurice Cohen, has ruled out the possible return of Nigerian striker Terem Moffi and Jérémie Boga, who left the club in acrimonious circumstances during the January transfer window, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Both players were attacked by angry fans at the club’s training ground following a 3-1 defeat to Lorient in November 2025, with reports stating they were hit, kicked, and spat on.

According to Get French Football News, Moffi and Boga were targeted due to separate incidents. Moffi, a former Lorient player, was seen laughing with Lorient president Loïc Féry on Ligue 1 Plus after the defeat—Nice’s sixth consecutive loss in all competitions. Boga, meanwhile, had invited Olympique de Marseille fans to the Allianz Riviera the previous weekend during a 5-1 loss to their local rivals. He has since apologised.

Both players, however, left the club on loan following the incident. Moffi joined FC Porto, while Boga moved to Juventus.

Even if those loan deals are not made permanent, Cohen has made it clear that neither player has a future at the club.

“They won’t return to Nice, whether their buy options are triggered or not,” Cohen, who joined the club in December, told Ici Azur.

Moffi and Boga are both under contract with Nice until the summer of 2027.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are set to trigger the €5m buy clause in Boga’s loan deal, with the Ivorian keen to remain at the Italian club.

Porto also hold a buy option for Moffi, although it remains unclear whether the Portuguese side will activate it.

Since arriving at Porto, Moffi has registered two goals and one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions.
