NFF plans CAF A, B licence courses

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, has said the country’s football governing body is planning to hold a CAF A Licence course soon, as well as a CAF B Licence course for women coaches next year, The PUNCH reports.

Gusau made this known on Monday while receiving the Director General of the National Institute for Sports, Philip Shaibu.

Shaibu visited the NFF secretariat to seek collaboration on the commission’s two-year plan to bridge a two-million coaching gap in Nigerian sports.

“You may be aware that this NFF administration, since inception, has taken the issue of improving our coaches to heart. We have organised a number of coaching courses, including a specific CAF C Licence course for 30 women coaches, who will return for their B-Licence programme next year. We are also working hard to secure CAF’s approval to stage a CAF A Licence course very soon,” Gusau said.

Last year, the NFF held a four-month CAF B Licence coaching course for about 25 coaches.

In 2024, the NFF also organised a CAF C Licence programme exclusively for women—the first of its kind—which drew 30 female coaches from across the country, including several former Nigeria international players. The three-module course took place between July and September 2024.

The 30 coaches are set to return for an upgrade next year, according to Gusau.
