Copa del Rey: Atletico Madrid lose final to Real Sociedad despite Lookman’s goal

Atletico Madrid winger, Ademola Lookman, found the back of the net as they lost the Copa del Rey final to Real Sociedad on Saturday night.

Lookman made it 1-1 in the first half, after Ander Barrenetxea put Sociedad in front in the first minute.

It was the Nigerian’s third goal in the competition and seventh in all competitions.

Atletico had to come from behind twice to level the game, with Julian Alvarez cancelling out Mikel Oyarzabal’s penalty.

The game went to penalties following extra time, with Sociedad goalkeeper Unai Marrero saving the first two kicks.

Sociedad have now won the Copa del Rey for the fourth time.

Atletico’s only hope of winning a trophy this season now lies in the UEFA Champions League where they play Arsenal in the semi-final.
