‘Yes, it’s less than $10,’ blasts Target shopper as another cheap item suddenly locked up during shoplifting epidemic

A TARGET shopper blasted the store after finding another item locked behind anti-theft glass.

The retailer, along with several other brands, has taken measures to combat shoplifting, however, it has left customers threatening to boycott.

Many shoppers say their trips have taken longer when they come across necessary items locked behind glass.

To get the item, they have to alert an associate, who might be helping someone else, and wait for them to unlock the case.

Typically, the most expensive items get locked away, however, the items that also get stolen the most may have an anti-theft device attached.

One shopper was shocked when they found a relatively cheap item kept under lock and key.

“If anyone is wondering how we’re do ing in Cali with all the shoplifting, my Nair was locked up at Target right now,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“And yes, it’s less than $10.”

Her tweet received a few responses from people with similar predicaments.

“Ooooh yeah the Mission Valley Target here has all that stuff locked up,” wrote one person.

“They claim the homeless people come in and steal hygiene products a lot. But then you have to wait five minutes for someone to help you after you request it.”

Another person wrote, “But you got some and didn’t get mugged. Well done.”

GIVING UP

Shoppers in other stores such as Walgreens, Walmart, and CVS have shared similar frustrations.

Some aren’t patient enough to wait for a worker and have walked out of the store without any regrets.

“I wonder if Walgreens has saved money with those anti-theft locks or lost it when people like me say on minute 11 of waiting for someone to come unlock it ‘Actually I’m not waiting here for a product I could have grabbed myself in what I wanted to be a quick run to the store,'” wrote an X user.

“If they want to lock everything up, they *should* hire more staff to open the cases. But they’re not gonna do that,” wrote a shopper.

“Exactly! They have the people who work the registers (which always has a line at my stores) do it, so it’s always a long wait,” replied another person.

“But they don’t wanna hire anyone else! There are so many times I just don’t go because of it and instead pick what I need up at the grocery store.”

The U.S. has reached out to Target for comment.
