After receiving advice from two medical experts, Finucane revealed in an emotional press conference that he was advised to retire and prioritize his health over continuing to play.
The experienced forward, who had been with the Sharks until the end of the 2025 season, expressed his disappointment at the abrupt end to his playing days but also conveyed his excitement for the next phase of his life.
With a stellar career spanning 251 games, Finucane initially debuted with the Bulldogs in 2012 before joining Melbourne Storm where he played 152 games and clinched two premierships.
