Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has advised Leke Abejide, the lawmaker representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, to remain in the African Democratic Congress and consolidate his political structure.
Gbajabiamila said this during a reception held in honour of Abejide’s 20th wedding anniversary and his wife’s 50th birthday.
In a viral video of the event posted by Channels TV, the CoS described the Kogi lawmaker as a loyal and resilient politician who should not abandon the party he has built through personal effort and resources.
Gbajabiamila said, “Honourable Abejide, I know you to be a committed party man. I know you to be a fighter. I know you to be someone who does not like to be cheated. So please, my charge to you is to stay in that same ADC. Fight them. Scatter them. Hold on to your party, ADC. Do not abandon them.”
The former speaker advised Abejide to resist pressure to defect, particularly to the All Progressives Congress, and instead focus on securing re-election on the ADC platform.
He also encouraged him to confront opposition within the party, strengthen his base, and bring in allies, including Bala Nafiu Gombe, as part of efforts to consolidate his influence.
He added that no individual or group should be able to take over a political structure established through sustained commitment.

“We like what you are doing. Continue. Don’t mind what the former governor said, that they will come and join APC. No, no, no. Stay in ADC. Win your re-election in ADC and you will. Bring Gombe, what’s his name again? Bala Gombe. Bring him. Do the right thing.
“You are a fighter. Do the right thing. Nobody can come and take your party away from you. A party that you’ve built with your sweat and your money and everything. Continue. Good luck in court,” he said.

This comes a few days after the National Working Committee of the party, led by David Mark, announced the expulsion of Abejide alongside Gombe and other members over alleged anti-party activities.
Bala is currently contesting his position as ADC national chairman in court.
