Update: Nigerian woman opposes her husband’s application for DNA test on their daughter he suspects belongs to her pastor

A mother of three and nurse at a top hospital in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has opposed her husband’s application for a DNA test on their only daughter.

LIB reported that her husband dragged her to the Akwa Ibom State High Court over the paternity of the child.

According to Akwa Ibom journalist and judiciary reporter, Harrison Essien, the petitioner is seeking to establish the paternity of the 2-year-old girl because he suspects his wife’s pastor is the biological father of the child.

The eng ineer further claimed that his wife would often leave home under the pretext of “night duty,” but was allegedly traced to a hotel. 

In an update on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the woman opposed her husband’s application for a DNA test, citing emotional trauma.

“Earlier today at Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo, a mother of three and nurse at a top hospital in Uyo, opposed her husband’s application for a DNA test on their only daughter,” the journalist wrote.

“The test is intended to determine the paternity of the third child, whom the husband suspects belongs to her pastor.

 

“The respondent argued that subjecting the child to a DNA test would be emotionally traumatic and not in her best interest.

 

“However, the plaintiff, an engineer, insisted on the test, stating that he is ready to bear the cost.”
