The Olojudo of Ido-Ayegunle in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Timileyin Ajayi, has distanced himself from ongoing land sales in the community, warning prospective buyers to exercise caution.

The monarch, in a statement on Tuesday, said he neither approved nor authorised the sale of any land within the community since ascending the throne, stressing that anyone purchasing land in the area did so at their own risk.

“I did not approve the sale of land to anybody, and I have not authorised anyone to sell land in Ido-Ayegunle village,” Oba Ajayi stated.

He clarified that the only legitimate land transactions recognised by the palace are those conducted during the lifetime of his father, Oba Samuel Adekanmi Ajayi, noting that such buyers must present valid receipts for verification.

“It is only those who bought land from my father while he was alive that I recognise. They will need to verify their receipts, and those are the only purchases I can approve,” he said.

The traditional ruler further warned that individuals currently selling land in the community were acting without his consent.

“Anyone buying land since I became king is not advised to do so. We are not selling our land to anyone, and I did not authorise anybody to sell the land in our village,” he added.

Oba Ajayi also emphasised that reports of land sales across various villages in Ido-Ayegunle are unauthorised.

“Some people are selling land in my village, but I want to make it clear that I did not authorise such sales. Buyers should be aware that they are dealing at their own risk,” he said.

The monarch listed communities under Ido-Ayegunle to include Oropa (the headquarters), Sugbohun, Odogbo, Sampa (Lobo/Orisa), Oguntanade (EIRD), Opo Eji, Alapo, Igbagba (Itadare), Orisun, Olupoti (Famurewa), Elegbo, Aba Oyo, Arifa (Aba Stephen Agbi), and Aselebe (Aba Nataniel).

He reiterated that no new land allocations have been approved under his reign, urging the public to verify claims before engaging in any land transactions within the area.
