Obi Donates N25m To 3 Schools, Awards Scholarship To Islamiyya Student In Bauchi

Former Anambra State governor and ADC presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has donated N25 million to three institutions in Bauchi State to support learning and infrastructure development in the schools.

The beneficiaries included Milikiya College of Nursing Sciences and Thomas Moore College of Health Technology, which received N10 million each, while Madarasatul Intisharul Islamiyya School in Yelwan Tudu, Bauchi, got N5 million donation.

In addition, a student of the Islamiyya school, Amina Abubakar Ahmed, was awarded a university scholarship in recognition of her outstanding academic performance.

Speaking during his visit to the Islamiyya school on Thursday, Obi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commended the management of the school for effectively utilising a previous N5 million donation.

“I am encouraged by how the earlier support was used to provide essential facilities such as chairs and other learning materials. This level of accountability is commendable,” Obi said.

He explained that his visit was not only to reconnect with the school but also to expand support through scholarships for deserving students.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society,” he added.

He also raised concern over insecurity, describing it as a critical issue affecting the well-being of citizens, particularly children.

“Our children must be able to learn and dream in a safe environment. Their future should not be limited by fear but nurtured with purpose,” Obi stated while announcing an additional N5 million donation to the school to support scholarships and development projects.

Earlier, the proprietor and Head of the Islamiyya school, Adamu Umar Jibrin, praised Obi’s continued support, noting that previous donations significantly improved the school’s learning environment through the provision of furniture and teaching materials.

He also called for greater attention to insecurity, urging Obi to prioritise safety as part of his broader national agenda.

At Milikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Obi commended the management for effectively utilising the earlier N10 million donation to upgrade the institution’s ICT centre.

He stressed the need for more health training institutions across Nigeria to address the shortage of healthcare workers.

To further support this goal, Obi announced another N10 million donation specifically targeted at assisting indigent students to complete their training as health professionals.

The Provost of the college expressed gratitude for the support, assuring that the funds would be judiciously used in line with the intended purpose.

At Thomas Moore College of Health Technology, Obi noted that his earlier visit to the institution was driven by a commitment to support specialised education.

“We need more trained health workers across the country, and institutions like this are critical to achieving that goal,” he said.

Impressed by the institution’s progress, he also announced an additional N10 million donation to support infrastructure development and student scholarships.

In his remarks, the Proprietor and Bishop of Bauchi Catholic Diocese, Rev. Dr. Hillary Dachellem, commended Obi’s generosity, noting that previous interventions had significantly boosted both academic and physical development of the college.

He assured that the new donation would be properly utilised, adding that the institution would continue to build on its recent progress.
