Sanusi Lamido Sanusi praises Alex Otti, says public office is not for wealth

The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has emphasized that public service should be driven by responsibility rather than personal financial gain, as he praises governor Alex Otti.

Speaking at a recent event, he stressed that politics is not a path to wealth creation, noting that individuals who seek money should consider business instead.

He added that leaders are ultimately remembered for their contributions and impact while in office.

Sanusi also commended Alex Otti for his leadership in Abia State, highlighting improvements in infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and electricity.

He further noted his long-standing relationship with Otti from their time in the banking sector, describing him as an example of purposeful leadership and legacy-driven governance.

If you want money, go into business, not politics, because at the end of the day, you will only be remembered for what you did during your service. If you go to Abia state you’ll see the roads, the bridges, the electricity Alex Otti is an excellent example of what leadership should be about. I’m proud to call him my friend. I have known him for years; we worked together in the banking sector. He is building a lasting legacy in Abia State.”
