NCAA Clears Gusau Airport For 2026 Hajj Operations

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has commended the Zamfara State Government for the standard of work executed at the Gusau International Airport.

The commendation came after an NCAA delegation inspected key facilities at the airport as part of the technical assessment ahead of possible approval for 2026 Hajj operations.

Naija News understands that the delegation was led by the General Manager, Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Bayode B.S., who was represented by Director Ahmad Abba.

During the inspection, the NCAA team assessed critical airport infrastructure, including the runway, terminal building and control tower.

The team expressed satisfaction with the quality of work at the facility, noting that the construction standard reflected compliance with aviation requirements.

According to the officials, the airport’s level of readiness showed the commitment of the Zamfara State Government to providing a safe, functional and modern aviation facility for residents and travellers.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Lawal Barau Bungudu, led the NCAA delegation on a tour of the airport alongside other senior government officials.

The inspection is believed to be one of the final technical stages before the airport’s formal commissioning.
Government officials said the facility, when fully operational, would improve air connectivity in Zamfara and open up the state to more economic opportunities.

The airport is also expected to support future Hajj operations, reduce travel stress for intending pilgrims and strengthen the state’s transport infrastructure.

The NCAA team said the quality of construction and adherence to required aviation standards were encouraging, adding that the facility had shown strong prospects for safe operations.

Officials said the project would not only serve passengers but also create opportunities in trade, logistics, tourism and related sectors.

The state government described the NCAA inspection as an important milestone in the airport project, saying the commendation from the aviation regulator showed that the facility was built with safety and operational standards in mind.
