His Excellency, the Governor, wasn’t in Kuriga village to cajole or play to the gallery. Rather, He engaged with the leadership of the community and parents of the abducted students with the honest intention of salvaging the dire situation. His visit was mainly to identify with the community and reassure them of his willingness and commitment to ensure the students are rescued from the hands of their captors in no distant time.

True to his words, Gov. Uba Sani visited His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to brief him on the security situation in Kaduna State and to share thoughts with him on effective strategies to bring back our abducted Kuriga school children and to also degrade the criminal elements laying siege to our communities within Kaduna State.

In what could be described as true, committed and exemplary leadership, Gov. Uba didn’t rest on his laurels, he kept beckoning and calling on the various security agencies to act promptly and safeguard the lives of the abducted student. Sixteen days after, the Kuriga students were rescued from the hands of the abductors in good faith and health and were today reunited with their families.

Gov. Uba led by example. He has so far proven that elected officials could truly be responsive even in times of crisis. Undoubtedly, he has to a large extent restored the confidence of the people of Kuriga Village, Chikun Local Government in public stewardship.
