EL PASO HORROR

The school district is less than 16 miles east of the Cielo Vista shopping center – the site of one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history.

The 2019 racially motivated attack inside a Walmart left 23 people dead and over 20 others injured.

The Cielo Vista mall was at the center of a second shooting last year.

In the February 2023 incident, an argument between two groups escalated into a physical fight before a 16-year-old suspect pulled out a gun and shot two other teens.

A 20-year-old man, who was with the alleged shooter, was also injured during the shootings.

The 16-year-old gunman ran from the scene before he was fatally shot by a bystander, who was legally armed, police said at the time.
