Doug Band started as an unpaid intern in the Clinton White House before working his way up to a job as the president’s assistant and post-presidency “counselor,” a role in which he helped launch the Clinton Foundation and created the Clinton Global Initiative conference, according to a 2020 profile in Vanity Fair.

But Band and the Clintons had a falling out, and at the time of the Vanity Fair story, he told the publication he had not been around them in five years.

Committee Chairman James Comey, R-Ky., wrote to Band in March to originally request his testimony. Band communicated with Epstein’s co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, dozens of times over email, which included some flirtatious messages, according to the files released by the Justice Department. Earlier this year, Band told The New York Times he never had a physical relationship with Maxwell and called her “a monster.”
