Yilwatda said it is important that the young people in Nigeria rise to the challenge of strengthening democracy in the country.

Addressing ongoing policy reforms across sectors of the economy, Yilwatda acknowledged that the youth are an integral force in nation-building and stability.

According to the APC chairman, Nigerians in the active demographic bracket of 25 to 55 must be made to understand the need to take ownership of Nigeria’s democratic process.

Yilwatda was quoted in a statement signed by his media aide, Abimbola Tooki to have said, “Nigeria’s democracy is at a defining moment. The responsibility to defend and consolidate it rests heavily on our youths, who possess the energy, innovation, and patriotic zeal required to move the nation forward.”

He also warned that individuals and politicians who have nothing valuable to offer must not be allowed within the corridors of power.

“We must not allow individuals who offer no credible alternatives to past challenges to mislead the people or truncate the gains already being recorded,” he said.

He further assured that the APC supports a youth-driven political movement, especially considering the fact that its membership comprises over 50 per cent young men and women.

He said such a move by the party is deliberate with the aim to ensure inclusion, generational renewal, and the empowerment of emerging leaders.
