The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as his wife and son are absent at the Kano State High Court on Wednesday to answer charges bordering on corruption and misappropriation of public funds.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the court slated Wednesday, April 17 for Mr Ganduje, his wife, Hafsat, and son, Umar, to appear before it over allegations of corruption.
When the matter came up before Justice Usman Na’abba, Mr Ganduje’s counsel, Nureini Jimoh, said his client had not been served with the charges personally.
Only the 6th respondent, through his counsel, Nureini Jimoh SAN, was present in court while the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th respondents were absent in court.
Counsel to the Kano State government, Y. A. Adamu, told the court that they could not serve the respondents personally.
Mr Adamu, however, attempted to move an ex parte motion application seeking to serve the respondents through substituted means, but Counsel to the 6th respondent, Nureini, objected.
Mr Jimoh told the prosecution to do the needful in serving the charges to his client, noting that there was no provision for service on criminal charges by ex parte motion.
He also vowed to challenge such move at the Court of Appeal, should the prosecuting counsel insist on serving the charges through substituted means.
The Presiding judge, Justice Na’abba, however, adjourned the matter till April 29 for continuation of hearing of the matter.
