Birmingham City set to face Barcelona in summer friendly clash

Birmingham City will welcome FC Barcelona for a pre-season friendly this summer, as the La Liga champions finalise a revised training camp at England’s national football centre, St George’s Park.

The Catalan club, under manager Hansi Flick, are set to spend approximately two weeks at St George’s Park starting 27 July 2026. The training base, located near Birmingham, will serve as the cornerstone of Barcelona’s preparations for the 2026/27 season.

As reported by BBC Sport on Wednesday, during their stay, they are expected to face Birmingham City in a glamour friendly during the early days of the camp, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

Following the England camp, Barcelona plan two additional friendlies: one in Nairobi, Kenya, and another in Morocco.

Reports suggest the Kenya fixture could potentially pit them against Liverpool.

The adjusted schedule comes in response to complications caused by the FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19.
