Bauchi Governor Redeploys Commissioners

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the redeployment of cabinet members to new roles after several top officials stepped down from their positions in the state government.

Naija News reports that the changes were made known in a statement released by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado. The action follows the exit of the Chief of Staff at the Government House, Hassan Gamawa, along with six commissioners who left their offices to focus on political ambitions.

With the sudden gaps in key offices, the governor directed that some members of the State Executive Council should take over supervision of the affected ministries until new officials are appointed.

As part of the new arrangement, the Principal Private Secretary, Hashimu Yakubu, will handle duties in the Office of the Chief of Staff. Mohammed Lawal R/Zayam has been moved to oversee the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub, will take charge of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Usman Shehu, has been assigned to supervise the Ministry of Water Resources.

In the same vein, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, will oversee the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties. The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Amina Muhammad Katagum, will now supervise the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.

Also affected is the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, which will be supervised by the Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs, Mohammed Sadiq Shira. The Chief Security Adviser to the governor, Sani Mohammed, has been directed to take over supervision of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.

Governor Mohammed wished those who left their roles success in their next steps and urged the officials taking on new duties to handle their tasks with care. He also instructed them to work closely with permanent secretaries to keep government activities running smoothly across ministries and agencies.
