Corps members have been advised to live within their means, avoid flamboyant lifestyles, and cultivate the habit of savings.

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, gave the advice while addressing corps members at the NYSC Kaduna State Temporary Orientation Camp in Kurmi-Mashi, Kaduna.

This was contained in a statement issued via the corps’ X handle on Wednesday.

Nafiu also implored the corps members to acquire new skills through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, adding that this would enable them to be self-employed and, at the same time, create jobs for others.

He said the scheme has partnered with several stakeholders willing to support corps members with low-interest loans, business grants, and starter parks.

“Don’t waste your time because time is precious. Do something with your time. Be diligent during your post-camp SAED training,” Nafiu said.

He urged “them to start small and gradually grow their business investments with time.”

While presenting her camp situation report, the NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator, Mrs Efeke Dadaza, informed the director-general that 2,896 corps members, comprising 2,198 deployed to Kaduna State and 698 dislodged from the FCT, were registered.
