Armed men abduct two Adamawa pastors

A popular television preacher and motivational speaker, Rev. Mike Ochigbo, has been kidnapped in Adamawa State.

Ochigbo, who is the General Overseer of Freedom Power Chapel, was said to have been forced at gunpoint early on Wednesday from his residence located in Nyibango.

Another pastor, John Moses, was also said to have been kidnapped at about the same time.

A resident of the area, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, the gunmen invaded the residence of the pastor around 2am and whisked him away after shooting indiscriminately.

The incident was the latest in the cases of security breaches recorded in the area lately.

A pastor, Hinjari Yoila, was killed in the area earlier in the year, therefore, drawing attention to the plights of residents with military authorities setting up a checkpoint there.

 The spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said operatives have been deployed to rescue those abducted.

According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has deployed operatives of the command drawn from the Special Rapid Response Team, Crack Squad and other Tactical Squads to carry out tactical and intelligence-driven operations on criminal hideouts and black spots to rescue the victims.

As of the time of filing this report, the abductors had yet to contact the families of the victims.
