The meeting was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday by the Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Media Office, which noted that the engagement reflected the longstanding relationship between the two men dating back to Jonathan’s time in office.

According to the statement, Hayatu-Deen previously served as a member of the National Council on Privatisation and also chaired the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) during Jonathan’s tenure as Vice President. He later worked on the Presidential Advisory Committee when Jonathan served as Acting President and subsequently as President.

The statement further revealed that Hayatu-Deen recently obtained his ADC presidential nomination form from the party’s national secretariat and formally informed Jonathan of his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.

During the visit, Hayatu-Deen commended Jonathan for his contributions to democratic governance and electoral credibility across Africa, describing the former president as a respected statesman on the continent.

Jonathan, in his response, warmly received the ADC aspirant and wished him success in his political ambition.

Hayatu-Deen’s media office described him as an economist and banker with over four decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, noting that his career has contributed to institutional reforms and job creation across Nigeria.

The statement added that Hayatu-Deen plans to use his experience to tackle insecurity, reduce the high cost of living and create employment opportunities for Nigerians if elected president.
