After an eight-hour “family-like” meeting in Abuja, Mopamuro stakeholders unanimously picked Pastor Babagbemi Adejola, popularly known as GB Irorun, as the consensus APC Aspirant for Yagba Federal Constituency in the forthcoming House of Representatives election.
The move ends weeks of agitation over Mopamuro’s turn to represent Yagba, with leaders streamlining five aspirants to one in what many had feared would be a rancorous process.
A three-member committee chaired by Chief Salaudeen Ganiyu, Erukutu, supervised the exercise without rancor. Other members were Chief Olatunda Dare and Engr. Kayode Olomo, with Hon. Bisi Ojuola as secretary.
Observers at the meeting included Commodore Folusho Daniel, Rtd, Chief Ayo Abereoran, Chief Makinde Oyebode, Hon. Jesse Abayomi Oloke, and Dr. Ayodele John, Delex.
Pst. Adejola is set to pick his nomination form for primary election at the APC Secretariat on Monday.

In a show of solidarity, fellow aspirants — Engr. Meseko, Brig-Gen Ipinyomi, Hon. Seun Ibigbemi, and Prof. Olafemi — pledged to jointly fund the form.
Reacting in an official statement Saturday, Hon. Seun Ibigbemi acknowledged the outcome of the shadow primary conducted by stakeholders.
“In the interest of unity and progress of Yagba Federal Constituency, he has affirmed his decision to abide by the result of the shadow primary,” the statement read.
Ibigbemi congratulated Pastor Babagbemi, GB Irorun, and pledged his full support for the candidate, reaffirming his commitment to “the collective vision of effective representation and development.”

“As a committed stakeholder in the Mopamuro Lokan agenda, he remains dedicated to the success of this shared mission,” the statement added.
Charging the candidate, Chief Ganiyu urged him to be magnanimous in victory and carry others along “to prove to other Yagba towns that a right choice was made.” Chief Olatunda told Adejola to “buckle up and see it as a challenge to excel.”
Engr. Olomo said he felt “on top of the world” witnessing a rancor-free selection against widely held expectations. His joy, he said, was premised on “love for justice, fairness and equity,” adding that “the future shall vindicate them for being a witness for this unique course.”
Accepting the mandate, Pst. Adejola promised to build on past achievements if elected. He pledged a “blissful campaign,” vowing to reconcile aggrieved APC members and work as a united front.
The consensus marks a major step in Mopamuro’s push to clinch the Yagba Federal Constituency seat under the APC platform.
