The governor made the remarks on Saturday during the Zamfara State APC congress held at the Trade Fair Ground in Gusau, where delegates elected new members of the party’s State Executive Committee through consensus.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala-Idris, a total of 745 delegates drawn from the 147 wards across the 14 local government areas of the state participated in the congress.

The statement noted that the newly elected state executives, led by Hon. Kabiru Moyi B/Magaji as chairman, were formally affirmed by the chairperson of the congress committee and Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe.

Addressing party members and delegates at the event, Mr Lawal described the congress as a significant milestone in consolidating the party’s structures and strengthening internal democracy within the APC.

He said the exercise reflected the party’s commitment to credibility, transparency and grassroots participation.

“Today’s process, culminating in the election, affirmation and swearing-in of new state executives, is a critical exercise that reinforces the credibility, transparency and legitimacy of our party at both the grassroots and state levels,” the governor said.

Mr Lawal commended the national leadership of the APC for its support and guidance in sustaining democratic processes within the party.

He also praised the congress committee led by Dr Balarabe for what he described as professionalism and integrity in conducting the exercise.

He expressed confidence in the newly elected executives, saying they possessed the capacity and vision needed to lead the APC in Zamfara effectively.
