You Lied, Our Lines Not Reasons for Lokoja Power Outage – TCN to AEDC

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has refuted a claim by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) that faulty lines along Lokoja axis was responsible for recent power outages in parts of Kogi state.

TCN insisted there is no fault on its network behind a power cut affecting communities in Kogi state.

AEDC issued a public notice on May 5, 2026, attributing disruptions in Zango, Shetima, Apansede, Phase I, Phase II, Crown Estate, and surrounding communities to a technical fault on TCN’s infrastructure in the Lokoja axis.

However, TCN general manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, stated on Wednesday that all feeders at the Lokoja Transmission Substation serving those areas were fully operational.

“All feeders at the Lokoja Transmission Substation serving the aforementioned areas are fully operational. As of the time of this statement, there is no outage, fault, or scheduled maintenance activity on any TCN transmission infrastructure within the Lokoja axis.”

The company maintained that there was no outage, fault, or scheduled maintenance on its network, and bulk power was being supplied to AEDC at the required capacity.

“The Company’s network in the region remains stable, and bulk power is being transmitted to AEDC at the required capacity for onward distribution to end consumers,” TCN stated.

TCN rejected AEDC’s claim and dissociated itself from responsibility for the disruptions. It urged sector partners to verify information before public attribution, warning that unverified claims could erode public confidence in the power sector.

TCN reaffirmed its commitment to a reliable transmission network and collaboration with stakeholders.
