Naija News reports that Kalu had advised against taking drastic actions against South Africa, warning that it could destroy the bilateral relationship between the two African nations.
While other senators warned that if the heinous attack were sustained, Nigerians will retaliate through South African companies, Orji Kalu said “let us not kill our relationship with South Africa”.
He accused Senators of expressing anger on the matter for wanting to be seen on television.
Reacting via a Facebook post, Okai stated that Kalu’s kindred are even more affected in the xenophobic attack.
He wrote, “Why is Orji Kalu acting this way? His own people are the primary victims of these barbaric and evil xenophobic attacks in South Africa, yet he seems blinded by selfish interests. It is hard to believe. Are there no leaders in Igbo land who can caution him?
“I have far more respect for the likes of Senator Ningi, Oshiomhole, and others. Kalu really failed here. I raised this issue on TV two weeks ago, and I am glad it is finally gaining the attention it deserves”.
