A WOMAN who claimed she was too pretty to be arrested will spend several years in prison for stabbing her mother to death with a piece of broken glass.
Hend Karim Bustami, 29, was sentenced to 15 years to life on Tuesday after pleading “guilty but mentally ill” to second-degree murder in connection to the death of Afaf Hussanen.

The self-proclaimed beauty queen originally pleaded not guilty when she was indicted by a grand jury in March.
The Las Vegas woman who claimed she was arrested and harassed by officers because they’d “never seen anyone as pretty as her” was found mentally fit to stand trial.
However, her public defender revealed that a psychologist “found her experiencing ‘intermittent exacerbations of psychosis’ and ‘in need of continuing psychiatric treatment,'” reported CBS affiliate 8 News Now.
Bustami was arrested in August 2022 near Barstow, California hours after she called Las Vegas police to report that her mother was dead.
The phone call was played during the grand jury hearing with the 911 dispatcher asking Bustami if she needed police, fire, or medical.
“Uh, medical,” said Bustami, adding, “I think I killed my mommy.”
“Why do you think you killed your mom?” asked the dispatcher.
“Because I did. I murdered her,” Bustami replied.
Police arrived at the home Bustami shared with her mother, where they found the 62-year-old Hussanen stabbed multiple times.
The mother was pronounced dead at the scene, meanwhile, the Barstow Police Department and the California Highway Patrol were able to take Bustami into custody during a traffic stop.
Police said Bustami was “covered in blood” and admitted to killing her mother again, according to court documents.
Evidence was found that suggested Bustami was “involved in a verbal dispute” before killing her mother and leaving the state, said investigators.
A neighbor said that police were always at the family’s home because of domestic disputes.
Friends of Hussanen said that the mother was out with them the night before the murder and had grown afraid of her daughter.
“Yesterday, she was at a friend’s house and she said she told her, ‘I’m worried to go home, maybe she will kill me,'” the unnamed friend claimed.
Bustami made headlines in August 2022 after she left a Chili’s Tex-Mex at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas without paying her bill.
She was found sleeping “near the security checkpoint, hindering their operations,” said officials by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Bustami was arrested near the airport’s baggage claim, where she acted “belligerent” with officers.
She threatened to “spit on all [the officers]” and said that “officers were perverts and were trying to rape her because they [had] never seen anyone as good-looking.'”
The University of Nevada-Las Vegas graduate was booked on misconduct charges after the incident at the airport.
Bustami will be eligible for parole in 2037.
