Wike postpones renovation of Int’l Conference Centre to July

The Abuja Investments Company Limited, AICL has announced a temporary suspension of the rehabilitation of the International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja, till July 5, 2024.

According to the company, the directive was authorised by the minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

Recall that the minister had earlier ordered the closure of the facility for eight months for immediate renovations.

But the company said that the decision to suspend the renovation was made to accommodate two significant events that are of peculiar nature and of importance to the nation and the international community.

“The Nigeria Air Force Anniversary, tagged The NAF @ 60 Anniversary, themed ‘Nigerian Air Force at 60: Leveraging Strategic Partnerships in Aerospace Innovations for Regional Security,’ will feature a series of activities.

“The Nigeria Oil and Gas Energy Week, which is scheduled to take place in June 2024.

“In parallel, the 23rd NOG Energy Week Conference & Exhibition, a cornerstone event for the international energy sector,” the statement added.

While regretting any inconvenience this might have caused, the AICL said it remains committed to providing a world-class venue for conferences, conventions, and cultural events in Abuja.’
