A TARGET shopper has slammed the store and said they would not return due to two controversial measures.
Mieko Gavia took to X, formerly Twitter, to complain about self-checkouts and an anti-theft measure.

The shopper first complained about items being locked behind the store’s plexiglass doors.
This anti-theft measure is when retailers lock up a row or even an aisle behind the see-through doors.
Customers then have to call a member of staff over to unlock the doors and retrieve the items they want.
In the post, Gavia said that she felt this anti-theft measure had impacted her retail experience.
“I’m already shifting to online shopping due to price and availability,” she asked.
“Now that everything is locked up, the lines are longer, and they want us to pay for self-checkout.”
Target has not announced plans to make shoppers pay for a monthly membership to use self-checkouts.
The chain recently announced that it would introduce express self-checkout lanes at some of its stores nationwide, according to the company’s website.
These lanes would only be able to be used by customers with 10 items or less, The U.S. Sun previously reported.
Gavia said that these changes have led her to shop elsewhere.
“Why would I go back into Target again,” she asked.
Although Target has not introduced annual fees for its self-checkout services, Walmart has rolled out a new membership service that requires customers to use self-checkout.
Walmart+ is a $12.95 per month, or $98 per year, subscription that requires customers to use their phones to self-scan as they shop and pay at a self-checkout.
Some online conspiracy theories have suggested self-checkout lanes will be reserved for Walmart+ customers but the lanes are open to all shoppers.
