Why It Will Be Too Late For Peter Obi To Come Back To Labour Party – Nenadi Usman

The Interim National Chairperson of the Labour Party (LP), Nenadi Usman, has asserted that it will be too late for the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to return to the party.

Naija News reports that Usman made this known on Wednesday, during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme.

According to Usman, once they close the register 21 days before the primaries, as mandated by the Electoral Act, no one comes from the back door to register.

She acknowledged that Peter Obi took the party to greater heights in 2023, and no one can match the momentum he generated.

She said, “It will be too late for Peter Obi to come back to Labour Party because if you look at the Electoral Act, at some po ints, we will close the register. You cannot come when that is done.

“Obi actually took the party to greater heights in 2023. There’s nobody who can match that momentum like he did.

“He convinced me to join him in the Labour Party. And not just me but also many people that are in Labour Party today because we believe in equity and fair play.”

Meanwhile, LP Factional National Chairman, Julius Abure, has blamed Peter Obi and the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, for the crisis plaguing the party.

Abure made the claim during an appearance on Arise Television on Wednesday.

He asserted that the crisis in the party started after Peter Obi and Otti went to Umuahia to set up a caretaker committee.
