Who is Dana Elmore?
Dana Elmore is a female police officer from Alabama.
She is the Sheriff’s Deputy at the Pickens County Police.
The cop is also associated with the state’s Reform Police Department
Elmore was previously honoured by Pickens Country Sheriff’s Office after she helped save the life of a two-week-old baby.
She managed to revive an unresponsive child using CPR and was given a Life Saver Award for her ‘outstanding performance’.
What was Micah Washington arrested over?
Micah Washington has been charged with obstructing governmental operations, resisting arrest, marijuana possession, drug trafficking and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
Washington had confessed about carrying a gun just moments before the altercation between him and Officer Elmoe broke – and the gun was then confiscated by the cop.
He is currently in Pickens County jail with a bond set at $505,000.
Why has Dana Elmore been suspended?
Dana Elmore has been suspended for repeatedly tasing Micah Washington at point-blank range.
On December 2, the cop detained and cuffed Micah Washington – a black man from Alabama – in front of his girlfriend for alleged suspicious behaviour.
The 24-year-old man was reportedly trying to fix his car’s flat tire on the side of a road when Elmore took him into custody.
Elmore was filmed telling Washington “Shut your b**** a** up” as she fired up her taser gun into his back while he was handcuffed and bent over the hood of his car.
Micah’s girlfriend Rice said the altercation began while he was fixing his car.
She added: “I couldn’t do anything but cry.
“After she forced him on the hood of the car and got the gun out of his pocket, she screamed ‘Oh yeah’.
“Micah asked her why she was saying that, and she immediately deployed her stun gun on his back.
“She was just holding it there until he started crying.”
Meanwhile, a video of the incident has been making rounds on the internet – and has triggered a mass outrage among people who are tagging it as an unjust racial discrimination.
