A TARGET shopper has slammed the retailer for an anti-theft measure they experienced during a visit.
This customer said their run-in led them to walk out of the Target store and complain.

Ryan (@wryansmith) said he was surprised that a certain item was locked behind plexiglass.
This security measure is when a store will use see-through doors and boxes to lock up items.
This means a shopper would have to call over a member of staff to unlock these doors and retrieve the goods.
Many large retailers have adopted this measure at certain locations and specific parts of the store.
Ryan shared he was particularly upset at what item he saw locked up at his Target location in New York City.
“Target in Columbia Heights has now locked up the socks and when I saw that I said “Oh f**k off” and left the store,” he wrote in his post.
Ryan added that this was not a Target-specific issue as he experienced the same problem at another nearby retailer.
“I don’t go to the CVS next door to me anymore because everything I could possibly need is locked away and the store is understaffed,” the shopper wrote.
Ryan continued his rant and explained how and why this had affected his shopping habits at Target.
“I don’t go to this Target often for the same reason,” he said.
“Waste of time and pain in the ass.”
Stores locking items has become a growing point of concern among shoppers, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

Chris told AMNY that he was surprised to see an everyday item affected.

Retailers across the US and Canada have rolled out strategies designed to combat theft. The U.S. Sun has compiled a list of measures that have been implemented at stores.
- Locking items in cabinets.
- Security pegs.
- Security cameras.
- Signs warning about the impact of theft.
- Receipt scanners.
- Receipt checks.
- Carts with locking technology
“It’s a terrible experience to wait for somebody to get toothpaste out of a cage,” Chris said.
“But I don’t know what else they can do.”
Retail theft has been on the rise across the country and many large and small retailers have explained that they have been affected.
Despite this, shoppers and officials have been conflicted about these anti-theft measures.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams slammed the move by Target and other big retailers.
Adams labeled these measures as “a state of surrender” to criminals.
