We Are Mobilizing Over 600,000 Voters For 2027 Election – Rivers PFN

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Rivers State has said it is mobilising more than 600,000 voters ahead of the 2027 general election as part of efforts to influence the emergence of leaders it believes can advance the interests of the state and its people.

Chairman of PFN in Rivers State, Rev. Dr. Minaibi Dagogo-Jack, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt shortly after the conclusion of a three-day summit organised by the fellowship.

Dagogo-Jack said the church had resolved to play a more active role in the democratic process through a coordinated voter mobilisation campaign across the state’s 23 local government areas.

According to him, the fellowship plans to deliver more than 20,000 votes from each of 21 local government areas and over 40,000 votes from the remaining two councils, bringing the projected total to more than 600,000 votes.

“We, the pentecostals in Rivers State, are not joking. We decided to convoke this programme to create awareness, to seek the face of God in order to chart a way forward through a peaceful electioneering process.

“And also to tell our people, to prepare the minds of our people that we are looking at producing the next elected leaders of the state.

“Rivers State has 23 local government areas and we are looking at producing more than 20,000 votes from each of the 21 LGAs and more than 40,000 votes to cut across the other two LGAs, making it 23 LGAs.

“We are mobilising in order to have more than 600,000 votes.”

The PFN chairman said the decision was informed by the outcome of the last general election, which he argued did not reflect the electoral strength of Rivers State despite having about 3.5 million registered voters.

“Having taken a critical look at the result of the last general election, Rivers State was able to produce a little over 200,000 votes for the current President. That to us is not enough,” he said.

Dagogo-Jack maintained that Pentecostal churches possess the numerical strength to significantly influence electoral outcomes and ensure greater accountability among political leaders.

“The pentecostal churches in particular are large enough. We have the numerical strength to tell these politicians that there is Balm in Gilead; to tell these politicians who ordinarily gave a little over 200,000 votes alone, out of 3.5 million registered voters in Rivers State.

“Like I always said, they were not able to produce 10 per cent for the President of Nigeria and yet, they are causing trouble here and there in Rivers State and this is too bad.”

He also criticised the state of democracy in the country, describing the current situation as “confusion” rather than genuine democratic governance.

The cleric urged political leaders to respect the rule of law and uphold democratic principles in order to strengthen public confidence in governance and ensure peaceful political participation.

“The church cannot continue to sleep and allow our children to die,” he added.
