THE angry Walmart customer has blasted the store’s employee after they were confronted about their receipt before they made it to the greeter.
The customer took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the heated exchange between him and the employee.

“Now why Walmart lady stopping me at self-checkout before I can even move from the machine and asking me if I purchased what’s in my bag as if I’m not showing her the damn receipt and then have the nerve to ask me what it is on the receipt,” he wrote.
“They been moving real funny in there with self-checkout.”
Walmart’s self-checkout has been slammed by customers nationwide.
The retailer recently decided to reserve specific self-checkout lanes for Walmart+ subscribers and Spark delivery drivers.
The new policy allows employees to shut down every kiosk except for the members of the store’s subscription and delivery services.
The news has not been received well by other shoppers on social media.
“Walmart, the self-checkout got worse with the addition of Sparks drivers only checkout leaving paying customers standing in line for over 20 mins,” wrote customer Mike on X.
“Eight checkouts, four down, and two for Sparks. Two left for the rest of the 20 people standing in line.
“It’s not right leaving paying customers waiting when the 2 Spark cash registers are going unused.”
Believe it or not, other customers have shared similar stories.
One customer posted a picture of multiple closed self-checkout registers, causing a line that wrapped around the store.
“Only 2 self-checkout available at 7:45. The line is to the freezer case!” wrote Tracy (@tracy722).
“You ask a manager why is there only 2 self-checkouts open, he says that’s the new way.”
Another customer even said they would take their business elsewhere.
“They really closed self-checkout at Walmart, and they got one cashier open so there’s a line 6:30 in the morning,” the user wrote.

How retailers are tweaking their self-checkout formula
Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at various locations were made available only for Walmart+ members.
Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed during specific hours, and more cashiers were offered instead.
While shoppers feared that shoplifting fueled the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.
One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would stop the fiercely contested receipt checks.
However, that test run has been phased out.
At Target, items are being limited at self-checkout.
Last fall, the brand surveyed new express self-checkout lanes across 200 stores with 10 items or less for more convenience.
As of March 2024, this policy has been expanded across 2,000 stores in the US.
“Target will see me now ’cause I need convenience.”
Despite the public outrage, Walmart has chosen to defend the policy change.
“This decision is intended to better manage checkout availability,” said Kelsey Bohl, senior manager of corporate communications at Walmart, in a statement to TODAY.
Bohl explained that store managers have the “autonomy” to deal with self-checkout lanes how they see fit.
