URGENT APPEAL FOR THE RESTORATION OF RADIO KOGI 93.5 FM, OTITE.

We write with deep concern and a sense of urgency regarding the state of Radio Kogi 93.5 FM, Otite, which has been off-air for almost one month.

Radio Kogi, Otite, formerly known as Ohiku Radio, holds a special place in our history as the first radio station established in Kogi State, serving the entire Kogi Central Senatorial District and beyond. For decades, it has been the voice of the people — educating, informing, and entertaining with rich, grassroots-oriented programs that reflect our culture, values, and aspirations.

Due to its highly engaging and people-centered programs, the station commands the largest audience in the district. Its sudden silence has created a serious information vacuum, cutting off thousands of rural dwellers who depend on it for news, government policies, public announcements, security alerts, and civic education.

Your Excellency, under your people-focused administration and with the commitment of the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Communications, we humbly appeal for urgent intervention to restore the station to air. We understand that technical and operational challenges may arise, but the prolonged shutdown of such a strategic and historic station is a disservice to the citizens who rely on it daily.

We respectfully request that the State Government:

1. Immediately assess and fix the technical issues keeping the station off-air.
2. Equip and fund the station adequately to prevent recurrent breakdowns.
3. Treat the matter as a priority, given the station’s role in information dissemination, security, and cultural preservation in Kogi Central.

Sir, your swift action will not only restore the voice of Kogi Central but also reaffirm your administration’s commitment to accessible information and grassroots development.
