UCL: They’re ruthless machines – Ex-Chelsea legend Cundy on best English team

Former Chelsea star Jason Cundy has named Manchester City the best team he has ever seen after watching Pep Guardiola’s side demolish European champions Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final second leg at the Etihad on Wednesday.

Manchester City is heading towards winning a treble this season after making their way to the final of the Champions League (where they will play Inter Milan), qualifying for the FA Cup final (to play against Manchester United on June 2), and leading the race in the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola’s side were deservedly 2-0 up in the first half, with both goals coming from Bernardo Silva, while Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez scored two late goals to complete the victory for Guardiola’s side.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy said: “Man City at their peak were dominant all over the pitch, but in a different way. Physically, they would dominate you.

“I felt they were a little bit, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, but now, no, they go to hurt you, the ball goes out wide, they take on their man. They are a ruthless machine.

“It’s hard to try and put into words how good they are because you run out—they were excellent, superb, brilliant. It was one of the best performances from an English side.”
