Two Nigerians caught with drugs in India

Indian authorities have detained two Nigerians, Chijioke Wisdom and Chigozie, for trafficking cocaine and other psychotropic substances on Sunday night.

Wisdom and Chigozie were arrested in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi, following specific intelligence received on April 27 about two men arriving in the area to supply drugs.

The Times of India reported on Friday that the police acted and nabbed the two Nigerians riding a scooter.

“During the search, police recovered 102 grammes of cocaine – classified as a commercial quantity – along with 13 grammes of MDMA and 85 grammes of methaqualone, which falls under the intermediate quantity category,” the report said.

The police disclosed that Wisdom, 26, and Chigozie, 43, lived in Lagos and Owerri in Imo State, respectively, without relocating to India.

They were found residing in India without valid visas.

According to police records, Wisdom had previously been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in a 2025 case registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.

His accomplice, Chigozie, was earlier involved in an attempted murder case in 2014 registered at Dabri Mor police station.

Both have been registered with a new case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Maidan Garhi police station.

“Police said further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify possible links of the accused,” the report added.
