He expressed worries over Osimhen’s on-field attitude during games, noting that the Nigerian now argues with referees and teammates.

The former Beşiktaş man was particular about how the former Napoli attacker now plays carelessly, pointing to his back pass that led to 63rd minute dismissal of goalkeeper, Günay Güvenç for handling the ball outside the penalty area, a consequence of a poor back pass from Osimhen.

Osimhen has faced significant backlash following a subpar performance in Galatasaray’s recent match against Samsunspor — a game that could have clinched the title with two matches remaining.

While Engin recognized the striker’s exceptional performances during his loan period last season, he voiced his disappointment regarding what he views as a decline in discipline and decision-making.

Speaking on the Beyaz Futbol channel, he said, “Osimhen is not bigger than Galatasaray. He performed excellently during his loan, and I held him in high regard. However, he is now in conflict with the referee and his teammates.

“His play has become remarkably careless. How could he pass to the centre-back? What sort of complacency is that, my friend? Today, the Galatasaray team may have utilized an incorrect defensive arrangement, leaving themselves vulnerable.”

Meanwhile, many Galatasaray fans would disagree with Engin because the Nigerian striker has continued to be a significant asset for the club.

He has either scored or assisted in each of his last eleven Süper Lig matches.
