The Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll, conducted online between April 24-28, found Trump’s general approval rating sits around 37%, slightly less than his 39% level in February. But his disapproval rating has reached 62%, the worst of both of his terms in office.

While Trump’s approval among Republicans has largely remained unchanged, his rating among Republican-leaning independents has sunk to an all-time low of 56%.

Trump’s weak approval ratings spell danger for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections in November. The GOP currently holds a razor-thin majority in the House and faces tough races to maintain control of the Senate.

The new poll shows Democrats hold a five-point advantage on which party people favor in House elections — up from their two-point advantage in February and October. That leverage grows to nine points among registered voters who say they are “absolutely certain to vote.”

Asked about the “situation with Iran,” 66% of respondents said they disapprove of Trump’s handling of the war, while only 33% approve. The president’s rating on the economy dropped to 34% amid rising gas prices.
