WALMART has recalled 16,000 pounds of beef over possible E. coli contamination.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a warning on Wednesday for raw ground beef items that were produced on April 26 and 27.

The packages of beef were produced by Cargill Meat Solutions and were shipped to Walmart stores in several states.
The FSIS is alerting people to check labels for the contained beef.
If you have beef with one of the recalled labels you should throw it away immediately to avoid any potential issues – a full list is below.
Cargill Meat Solutions reported the contamination “after they identified that previously segregated product had been inadvertently utilized in the production of ground beef,” the recall said.
It issued the warning “out of an abundance of caution,” Cargill Meat told CBS News.
There are currently no reports of anyone getting sick from the beef, Cargill Meat told CBS News.
The meat was shipped to Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia, per CBS News.
‘TOO LATE’
People are frustrated over the timing of the recall as some beef may have been consumed already.
“They always do recalls too late,” a user on X, formerly Twitter said.
“Most people would have already consumed this meat. This particular recall time frame will be disastrous when the bird flu happens to get into the meat/milk.”
“Buying food from Walmart, Costco, any place like that is a roll of the dice. I never would,” another user said.
This user said, “Quite concerning…”
“That might explain my stomach issues the night before last. Nothing is safe to eat anymore,” one person said.
WHAT IS E. COLI?
E. coli can potentially make you sick or be fatal but some strains are harmless.
“Escherichia coli (abbreviated as E. coli) are bacteria found in the environment, foods, and intestines of people and animals,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Recalled Beef
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has listed the recalled beef as follows:
- 2.25-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing “93% LEAN 7% FAT ALL NATURAL LEAN GROUND BEEF” with lot code 117 and establishment number “EST. 86P” printed on the back of the label.
- 1.33-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing four “PRIME RIB BEEF STEAK BURGERS PATTIES” with lot code 118 and establishment number “EST. 86P” printed on the back of the label.
- 2.25-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing “85% LEAN 15% FAT ALL NATURAL ANGUS PREMIUM GROUND BEEF” with lot code 117 and establishment number “EST. 86P” printed on the back of the label.
- 2.25-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing “80% LEAN 20% FAT ALL NATURAL GROUND BEEF CHUCK” with lot code 118 and establishment number “EST. 86P” printed on the back of the label.
- 1.33-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing four “80% LEAN 20% FAT ALL NATURAL GROUND BEEF CHUCK PATTIES” with lot code 118 and establishment number “EST. 86P” printed on the back of the label.
- 1.33-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing four “90% LEAN 10% FAT ALL NATURAL GROUND BEEF SIRLOIN PATTIES” with lot code 118 and establishment number “EST. 86P” printed on the back of the label.
“Some kinds of E. coli can cause diarrhea, while others cause urinary tract infections, respiratory illness and pneumonia, and other illnesses.”
Some other side effects may include dehydration, bloody stool, and stomach cramps.
Issues can start to arise a few days after consumption and people typically recover after a week.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment on the matter.
