A TIKTOKER has become a cautionary tale walking after receiving chemical burns that she claims almost ended her life.
Stephanie Margarucci typically posts light content of lifestyle and fashion videos, but that all changed with a trip to the hospital as she fought to recover from facial injuries.

Stephanie (@beasteater) posted her first concerning video on Saturday, displaying gruesome-looking burn marks all over her face.
The influencer’s face held a number of scabbed-over dark burns that radiated out to peeling skin.
The largest of the wounds were centralized between her eyebrows and on the right side of her nose.
“Shoutout to the hospital I wouldn’t be here without medicine,” she wrote in the description of the first video but said nothing in the clip.
Her initial posting had multiple views concerned and asking for the full story.
Stephanie then posted a second video revealing the culprit for her massive injuries.
It turns out that the burns were only the surface of her medical issues, and what the burns led to almost took the TikToker’s life.
“When you get a chemical burn all over your face and it turns into an infection that started to spread through your bloodstream and almost killed you,” she wrote in the second video caption, again not speaking in the clip.
The lifestyle vlogger did not divulge which brand it was, but did explain that the chemical burns were from an expired skincare product, reported Distracify.
When the product began to feel odd on her skin, she used a facial steamer to try and alleviate the discomfort, only further exacerbating the burns.
Using the steamer also encouraged a bacterial infection that developed into a blood infection — which can rapidly lead to death if left untreated.
LIGHTHEARTED RECOVERY
Despite a near brush with death, Stephanie has dealt with the ordeal in stride, posting a satirical video on Monday, comparing herself to Harley Quinn.
“So a lot of people were like, what happened to you? What happened to your face? So I just wanted to come on here and clarify real quick — I was talking to this guy,” she said in the clip.
She then went onto take on the character of Harley Quinn, notoriously the DC Comic’s psychologist turned Joker sidekick and lover.

She recounted hanging out with a man who asked her to prove that she loved him by jumping into a hole filled with acid.
“If you love me, you’ll jump off this s**t. And I’m like, what? I do love you — I’ll jump off this s**t,” she recounted.
“I dived into, like a front backflip, dolphin dive, flip — Straight into the acid,” she joked.
“Then he jumped in and after me. So we’re both just sitting in the acid, and he kissed me,” she said.
“That’s why I look like this!”
A CAUTIONARY TALE FOR MAKEUP USERS
The influencer’s story has opened the eyes of other makeup users who experienced mystery chemical burns, not knowing what it could have been from.
“[MY product] was a goooodddd while out of date, and it was the only product i had used before i had the chemical burn so it could of only been that,” wrote one user in the comments.
“I’m scared to do skincare now I’ve gotten chemical burn but not nearly this bad,” added another.
Many noted that Stephanie’s story was an important one to tell as a cautionary tale.
“I heard you shared your story elsewhere but I would love to hear it. I think it’s an important story to tell and really a public service announcement,” shared one user.
Beyond relating to the ailing influencer, many people sent well wishes and kind words about internal beauty her way.
“I just want to say no matter how terrible you feel accidents happen you’re still beautiful and I’m so sorry I hope you have a speedy recovery much love,” wrote one user.
“Chemical burn or not you’re a beautiful soul and that will always shine through,” added another.
