On Sunday, April 28, John-Paul closed his service at Solid Rock at Market Common in Myrtle Beach by announcing his wife’s tragic death.

In an emotional moment, he said she died by suicide following a mental health battle and choked up while sharing memories of her.

According to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, Mica’s body was found at the Lumber River State Park in Robeson County, North Carolina, two hours east of Charlotte.

The park is nearly an hour and a half north of Myrtle Beach, where she lived at the time of her death, according to her obituary.

John-Paul said she has suffered from thoughts of suicide in the past, but “God took care of her and got her through it,” he told ABC affiliate WPDE.

“She was probably the greatest wife anyone could ask for,” the pastor said.

Friends and family say Mica, who was once the worship leader at Solid Rock, had been absent from the church in recent weeks, according to posts on social media.

Online, she would open up about her struggles and often shared verses from songs that helped bring her comfort.

On April 9, Mica shared a mysterious post where she spoke of “terrible things” she lived through.

“When terrible, terrible, terrible things happen to you,” she wrote, saying her followers knew what she was talking about.

The singer shared the post with a photo of herself smiling, which she called her “resting peace face” and encouraged her followers that God was still good.

“Stay strong and resilient, your family has your back,” her grandfather said in a now-tragic comment.

Another person said, “Sending you love” and quoted the Bible with, “He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Officials said they don’t believe there’s a threat to the public at this time.

Following Mica’s death, family members made impassioned calls for a detailed investigation.

A fundraiser was created to raise money for funeral arrangements and travel expenses as the family flies to South Carolina.
