He spent more than two decades in the Yoruba movie industry

Adeshina enjoyed a career spanning over 20 years in the Yoruba film industry, earning recognition as one of the respected faces of indigenous cinema. His consistency and compelling performances made him a household name among lovers of Yoruba films.

He became famous for traditional and royal roles

The late actor was best known for portraying kings, chiefs, elders and other culturally significant characters.

His command of the Yoruba language and ability to bring traditional roles to life made him a favourite in epic and historical productions.

His nickname came from a memorable movie role

The name “Elegbeje Ado” originated from one of his most popular film characters. The role became so closely associated with him that it eventually replaced his real name in the entertainment industry and among fans.

His transition from Nollywood to gospel films

After years in mainstream Nollywood, Adeshina shifted his focus to Christian ministry in 2025. As a pastor, he combined his passion for filmmaking with evangelism, producing faith-based movies.

His first gospel production was Egberun Odun (“One Thousand Years”), marking the beginning of his new mission in Christian filmmaking.

He rejected alleged pressure to join secret cults

In an interview on actor Kunle Afod’s YouTube platform, Adeshina recounted some of the challenges he faced during his acting career.

He claimed that at the height of his fame, he was encouraged to join occult groups to remain successful in the industry but refused, saying he chose to remain committed to his Christian faith.

His death

He reportedly died at the age of 66
