American singer and Tiktok star D4vd has pleaded not guilty to the alleged murder of a 14-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, as prosecutors disclosed details of the charges against him.

The 21-year-old artiste, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was formally arraigned on Monday on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the teenager’s death.

According to prosecutors, the victim was allegedly killed in circumstances linked to an underage relationship, which authorities claim the singer sought to conceal to protect his music career. They further alleged that the act was carried out for financial gain and involved the use of a sharp object.

Burke was arrested on April 16, months after the remains of the teenager were discovered in a vehicle linked to him. Prosecutors also stated that the victim was allegedly a potential witness in an investigation and was “intentionally killed” for that reason.

During his court appearance, the singer appeared calm and did not speak, while his lawyer entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. His legal team maintained that he was not responsible for the girl’s death and called for an open preliminary hearing to allow evidence to be examined publicly.

The prosecution, however, said it has gathered extensive evidence over several months and is prepared to present its case in court.

The charges against Burke include first-degree murder with special circumstances, as well as additional allegations relating to unlawful acts involving a minor. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty under California law.

The case has drawn significant public attention, with authorities noting that a final decision on whether to pursue the death penalty will be made at a later stage.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 23, as investigations and legal proceedings continue.
