The Judiciary of Sierra Leone is getting ready to host the 2024 ECOWAS Community Court of Justice’s International Conference.
The event will have people from different countries come together to talk about important legal matters.
In a statement, the conference which will center on the theme “Enhancing the Role, Relevance and Effectiveness of the ECOWAS Court of Justice through the Strengthening of Synergies between the Court and National Stakeholders”, is scheduled to take place from May 13 to 14, at the Bintumani Conference Centre, Aberdeen, Freetown Sierra Leone.
According to the statement signed by the Acting Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, Justice Nicholas Colin Browne-Marke, the conference will deliberate on how to make the ECOWAS Court of Justice better and more helpful for everyone. Lots of important people will be there, like judges from different countries, and ministers of justice. Even top professors and lawyers will share their knowledge.
The conference will attract over 250 participants including the President of the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice, Justice Edward Amoaka Asante, the Chief Justice of Liberia, Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Yuoh; Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, Chief Justice of Ghana; Justice Hassan Bubacar Jallow, Chief Justice of Gambia; Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, Chief Justice of the Federation of Nigeria among others.
Acting Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, said the conference won’t stop regular court cases in the country.
This conference happens every year and is a big deal for the legal community in West Africa. It’s a chance for everyone to talk about important legal issues and help make the ECOWAS Court of Justice better.
