The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has called on the All Progressives Congress leadership to provide necessary publicity for the programmes and policies of President Bola Tinubu.
Oyebanji, who said that Tinubu’s policies, especially his economic reforms, infrastructure development and efforts being made to stabilise the country, had improved the living conditions of the people, said that hyping the achievements by party leaders would provide the needed enlightenment for the people, especially at the grassroots.
The governor, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, spoke in the state capital while receiving the newly inaugurated executives of APC South-West, led by the Zonal Chairman/National Vice Chairman, Southwest, Dr Isaac Kekemeke
The governor said that propagating Tinubu’s achievements “will make people value the government’s programmes and policies and further endear the President to Nigerians”.
Oyebanji described the few months he spent in office before Tinubu’s inauguration as “a very tough period”, adding, “The President’s decision to immediately free resources to the sub-national as a way of improving and rescuing the economy from collapse, turned the situation around.
“The story is the same across the states. President Tinubu’s programmes and policies have positively impacted the people. While the opposition element will do everything to rubbish the gains of the reforms, party leaders should counter them with verifiable facts”.
The governor said, “Out of the six federal roads in Ekiti State, two have been fixed, work has commenced on one and two have been awarded. Ekiti State has been linked to the new rail line project of the Federal Government. My administration has not received any loans to finance infrastructure projects in the last three and a half years.
“So, if a state as small as Ekiti has this kind of Federal Government presence, then you can imagine what will happen to big states in the country. Please, we have every cause to be proud of the achievements of our party. The only way we can get this done is through you, because you are the closest to the people at the grassroots level.
“What we are talking about is that at every ward meeting, two or three minutes should be devoted to explaining to party members what the government has done.
“Our party is on a rescue mission, generally through the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. We are all ambassadors of the President in our respective zones and states and I will use this opportunity to appeal to our party leaders from this zone to make explaining the achievements of the President’s administrations to everybody paramount.”

Earlier, Kekemeke, who commended Oyebanji for the successful outing at the official flag off of his re-election campaign, described him as an emerging party and national leader based on his pedigree of humility and astute leadership quality and by positioning himself as a unifying force.
He said the zonal APC executives were in the state for their first meeting after their inauguration last month.
The APC Zonal Chairman reiterated their unalloyed support for all APC governors in the Southwest, stressing that the zonal leadership was committed to strengthening the party’s structure in the region.
Recall that Kekemeke had said at a media chat in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday that the zonal executives were set to bring Osun and Oyo states to the party’s fold through winning the 2026 Osun poll and 2027 governorship in Oyo State.
Osun State is at present governed by Ademola Adeleke of Accord, while Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is of the Peoples Democratic Party.
While the Osun governorship election will hold on August 15, the gubernatorial poll in Oyo State has been slated for January 2027.
Kekemeke said, “Very soon, our party will occupy Agodi Government House and the Osun Government House. That is a task that we have as Southwest executives to ensure that the entire Southwest gets into the APC to support President Tinubu and to say that we, as Southwest executives, are very proud of the achievements of Mr President in the last three years.”
The APC Southwest chairman, who said that Tinubu had done well for the region and needed to be appreciated with overwhelming votes in the 2027 election, said the party was looking at ensuring that Tinubu got no fewer than 10million votes in the presidential election.
“The message is that Oyebanji must be reelected in Ekiti State on June 20. The message is that Osun must be APC, and Bola Oyebamiji must be elected on August 15. The message is that on January 16, 2027, Oyo must come in and President Tinubu must be returned overwhelmingly,” Kekemeke said.
