For the first time this season, Kylian Mbappe barely had a sniff. The France forward tirelessly fought for 90 minutes for Paris Saint-Germain, but unfortunately, he was starved of opportunities as they were forced to settle for a frustrating 0-0 draw against last-placed Clermont Foot in Ligue 1.
With Mbappe unable to make an impact, Ousmane Dembele failed to capitalize on the chances that came his way for Luis Enrique‘s side. Dembele, who was given numerous opportunities, couldn’t find the back of the net. His best chance came in the early stages of the game when, following a sweeping PSG move down the left-wing, he fired wide. Just before half-time, the France winger attempted a volley from a tight angle but only struck it straight at the goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, Clermont did pose a threat in their forward movements. Gianluigi Donnarumma , PSG’s goalkeeper, had to showcase his acrobatic skills with a duo of impressive saves just after half-time, and he was called into action again a few minutes later. In response, Mbappe tried his luck with a close attempt but missed the target after a well-worked attack.
Goncalo Ramos, brought on as a substitute, injected a new attacking quality into the game. However, like his teammates, he struggled to deliver in crucial moments, with his close-range effort being denied after a swift Parisian move.
