Police arrest suspect over abduction of three children in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the abduction of three children in Yola North Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

“On June 16th, 2026, one Samaila Musa, male, of Hullere Gwalamba, Yola North local government area, reported at the State Intelligence Department that on 12th June, 2026,  three of his sons, namely: Adamu Samaila Sultan, aged 24 years, Bilal Abdurrahman, aged 8 years, and Ya’u Sani Baba Iyali, aged 10 years, were kidnapped and whisked away to an unknown destination.

“The complainant further reported that the kidnappers later established contact with the family and demanded ransom as a condition for the release of the victims,” the statement read.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, directed operatives of the command to launch a full-scale investigation and deploy intelligence and technical resources to track down the perpetrators.

“The swift action led to the subsequent arrest of one suspect,” he stated.

He added that the suspect was in protective custody and was providing useful information to assist the police in apprehending other members of the kidnapping syndicate operating in the state.

The police spokesperson said investigations were ongoing and that the suspect would be charged in court upon conclusion of the investigation.
