PHOTOS: Saraki cheers Arsenal at Champions League final in Budapest

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, was at the Puskás Arena in Budapest on Saturday to watch Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final.

He announced his attendance on X, posting photos of himself at the 67,000-capacity stadium alongside the message, “Live at the Puskás Arena, Budapest for the Champions League Final. COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!”

Saraki is a long-time Arsenal supporter whose loyalty to the club has seen him follow the Gunners on the continental stage.

He attended the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the competition, and met Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka, after the club’s 5-1 aggregate victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He is also the founder of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club, a professional side based in Ilorin, Kwara State, which competes in the Nigeria National League.

Saturday’s final is the conclusion of the 71st season of Europe’s elite club competition and the 34th since it was renamed the UEFA Champions League.

The 2026 final marks the first time Hungary has hosted the showpiece, having previously staged the UEFA Europa League final in 2023.

Saraki served as the 13th president of the Nigerian Senate from 2015 to 2019. He previously served as governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011.
