Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has alleged that politicians are sponsoring the kidnapping of schoolchildren across Nigeria.
The cleric made the claim amid a recent wave of abductions involving students and teachers in states such as Sokoto and Oyo.
Speaking on the growing insecurity, Ibiyeomie questioned why security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services (DSS), have been unable to apprehend those responsible for the kidnappings.
According to him, the perpetrators could not be carrying out such operations without the backing of influential individuals.
“They are not kidnapping these children without sponsors. Politicians must be behind it. They cannot abduct children and publicly display their pictures without support from powerful people,” he said.

Ibiyeomie also expressed doubts over the inability of security agencies to trace and arrest the kidnappers, noting that modern surveillance and tracking technologies should make it possible to locate them.
“The DSS has the capacity to track people and determine their locations. So, how is it that these kidnappers are not being tracked? There appears to be an invisible hand behind it. If phone calls can be traced, why is it that no one is ever caught?” he queried.
